Kappa Sigma at Valdosta State University

Brothers at 2008 Greek Assembly
Kappa Sigma has begun the first half of 2008 with great success at Valdosta State University. This past spring, we held our annual Philanthropy Week, My Brother’s Keeper Program and our Hayden Jacque’s Memorial Golf Tournament, raising nearly $15,000 for the American Cancer Society and local charities around Lowndes County. Our success from these events carried over into the 2008 Greek Assembly.
Valdosta State University held its annual Greek Assembly in April. Again, we excelled in almost every category. Kappa Sigma won 4 of the 5 organizational categories: Academic Success, Leadership Development, Campus and Community Involvement, and Inter-Greek Relations. In winning all of these categories, Kappa Sigma was announced as the Fraternity of the year in receiving the 2008 President’s Cup Award. We have now won the President’s Cup Award 5 of the last 6 years. Kappa Sigma also swept most of the individual awards winning the Advisor of the Year (Brother Timothy Reisenwitz), the New Member of the Year (Brother David Boyd), the Scholar of the Year (Brother Michael Crocker) and the Greek Man of the Year (Brother Travis Polatis).
At the moment, we are enjoying the summer and doing many renovations to the Kappa Sigma House. We are excited for Rush, which is quickly approaching at the end of August. We hope to continue our tradition of having one of the biggest and best pledge classes this year, insuring that Kappa Sigma remains the pride of Valdosta State University.
